Ego Projection

Dimensions: 2’x4’x9’

Materials: Steel, insulation fabric, mirrored Plexiglas, video recorder and projector

Ego Projection records shadows cast upon it and projects the recorded
shadows back onto the sculpture in another location. As the viewer walks past the sculpture, they have the opportunity to see unusual angles of themselves because of the mirrored Plexiglas in the sculpture, as well as the opportunity to see an augmented and delayed shadow of themselves show up in a different place on the sculpture than where their original shadow was cast.  The shape of the sculpture was loosely based on Freud’s analogy of an iceberg to describe the different levels of the mind.
